Spectral radiation is required for the diffuse and direct portion of solar radiation incident on a 37° inclined surface facing the sun.

The air mass zero (AM0) spectrum used to generate the terrestrial spectrum was provided by C. Frohlich and C. Wehrli and is the revised and expanded Neckel and Labs spectrum. Neckel and Labs revised their spectra, citing Hardrop's work, using newer limb dimming data to convert from luminosity to luminescence, as reported by Frohlich. Comparisons by Frohlich with calibrated solar photometer data from Hawaii's Mauna Loa show that this new extraterrestrial spectrum is the best currently available.
