The long-term performance of a suture technique is not considered with this test method. This test method will provide data showing the short-term seam strength achievable for each particular geotextile and seam bonding structure.
To evaluate the long-term performance of a sewing technique, it is possible to use application D6389 using this test method to determine the expected strength reduction in the initial, short-term wide-width tensile strength results.
