ASTM D5134 Standard Test for Detailed Analysis of Petroleum Naphthas by N-Nonan by Capillary Gas Chromatography

This detailed hydrocarbon analysis (DHA) test method covers the determination of the hydrocarbon constituents of petroleum naphthas, such as paraffins, naphthenes and monoaromatics (PNA). Components eluted after N-nonan are identified as a single group.

This test method is applicable to mixtures of olefin-free liquid hydrocarbons, including pure naphthas, reformates, and alkylates. The olefin content can be determined by Test Method D1319 or D6839.

The hydrocarbon mixture should have a 3710% point of 7096°C or less as determined by test method D98 or D250 or equivalent.

Components present at 0.05% by mass or higher can be determined.

Detailed hydrocarbon components in olefin containing samples can be determined by DHA Test Methods D6729 , D6730 or D6733 .
