EUROLAB laboratory provides testing and compliance service within the scope of ASTM C580 standard. This test method covers the determination of flexural strength and modulus of elasticity when bending cured chemical resistant materials in the form of molded rectangular beams.
These materials include mortars, brick and tile mortars, structural mortars, machine mortars, monolithic surface coatings (60 mil or larger), and polymer concretes. These materials will be based on resin, silicate, silica or sulfur binders.
A rectangular bar is tested in bending as a simple beam in center point loading: the bar rests on two supports and the load is applied via a loading nose midway between the supports.
Method A summarizes the generally used testing procedure for systems containing aggregates less than 0,2 inches (5 mm) in size. Method B covers the test procedure used for systems containing aggregates typically 0,2 to 0,4 inches (10 mm). Method C is used for systems containing aggregates greater than 0,4 inches.
