These test methods provide a means of assessing the uniformity of adhesion of a given pressure sensitive adhesive tape. Evaluation can be within a tape roll, between rolls or between production batches. Variations in tape backing or adhesive, or both, affect response. Therefore, these test methods cannot be used to detect specific causes of non-uniformity.

These test methods may not be suitable for test strips with relatively rigid backings, rigid liners, or backings that show high resilience at low forces. These features will result in a high variability for test response that is not a true indicator of the true nature of the adhesive bond.
