The method uses lap shear specimens bonded to wood, metal or composite with adhesives with shear modulus ranging up to 700 MPa (100 000 psi).
This test method is generally suitable for joints where the ratio of adhesive tensile modulus to adhesive shear modulus is greater than 300 to 1.
