ASTM D4310 Standard Test Method for Determining Mud and Corrosion Tendency of Disturbed Mineral Oils

This test method is a modification of test method D943, in which the oxidation stability of oils of the same type is determined by monitoring the acid number of the oil. The number of test hours required for the oil to reach 2,0 mg KOH/g acid number is the oxidation life.

Procedure A of this test method requires determining and reporting the weight of the sludge and the total amount of copper in the oil, water and sludge phases. Procedure B requires only sludge determination. Acid number determination is optional for both procedures.
