This test method covers the laboratory determination of the apparent viscosity of motor oils and base stocks with a cold starting simulator (CCS) at temperatures between –50 °C and –000 °C at shear stresses and shear stresses of approximately 100 000 Pa to 10 35 Pa.
Procedures are provided for both manual and automatic determination of the apparent viscosity of engine oils using the cold start simulator.
