The ASTM D5385 standard measures the hydrostatic resistance of a waterproofing membrane under controlled laboratory conditions. This test method is not suitable for systems that rely on sealing seams with padding as padding is not part of this test method.
This test method is under the jurisdiction of the ASTM Committee. D-8 is about Roofing, Waterproofing and Bituminous Materials and is the direct responsibility of the D08.22 Subcommittee on Waterproofing and Moisture Proofing Systems.
Values stated in SI units or inch-pound units will be considered standard separately. The values specified in each system may not be exactly equivalent; therefore, each system should be used independently of the other. Combining values from the two systems may result in non-compliance with the standard.
