This standard describes the procedure for determining the ductility of an asphalt material, as measured by the distance that the two ends of a briquette sample of a material will elongate before breaking when separated at a given speed.

Unless otherwise stated, the test should be performed at 25 ± 0,5 °C [77 ± 0,9 °F] and at a speed of 5 cm/min ± 5,0%. At other temperatures, the speed should be specified.

The text of this standard refers to notes and footnotes that provide explanatory material. These notes and footnotes (except in tables and figures) will not be accepted as requirements of the standard.

Values ​​stated in SI units or inch-pound units will also be considered standard. Values ​​specified in each system may not be exactly equivalent; therefore, each system should be used independently of each other. Combining values ​​from the two systems may result in non-compliance with the standard. Bath and mold sizes are given in SI units only, as equipment is not available in inch-pound units.
