This test method gives a measure of adhesion to a standard steel substrate or other relevant surfaces for a pressure sensitive label stock.
This test method provides a way to assess the uniformity of adhesion of a particular type of pressure sensitive label stock. Evaluation can be within a sheet or coil, between sheets or coils, or between production batches.
Differences in label stock surface stock and adhesive may affect response; therefore, this test method cannot be used to detect specific cause(s) of non-uniformity.
This test method may not be suitable for testing label stocks with rigid backs or backs that show high resilience at low forces. These features can result in high variability in test response, which is not a true indicator of the true nature of the adhesive bond.
Values stated in SI or inch-pound units will be considered standard separately. Values specified in each system may not be exactly equivalent; therefore, each system should be used independently without combining values in any way.
