ASTM D6278 Test for Shear Stability of Polymer Containing Fluids Using a European Diesel Injector Apparatus

The test method measures the percent viscosity loss of polymer-containing liquids at 100 °C as evaluated by a diesel injector apparatus procedure using European diesel injector testing equipment. The viscosity loss reflects polymer degradation due to shear in the nozzle.

No detailed attempt has been made to relate the results of this test method to the results of the sonic shear test method.

This test method uses the test apparatus defined in CEC L-14-A-93. This test method differs from CEC-L-14-A-93 in the time required for calibration.
