ASTM D8133 Standard Test Method for Determining Low-Level Phthalates in Poly(Vinyl Chloride) Plastics by Gas Chromatography-Mass Spectrometer

This test method provides a procedure to determine the amount of six phthalates by solvent extraction of plasticized PVC articles following analysis of the extract by gas chromatography/mass spectrometry. Six phthalates, BBP, DBP, DEHP, DNOP, DINP and DIDP were used to demonstrate how to apply the method. Under this method, “low level” is defined as 1000 ppm.
