ASTM D1925 Standard Test Method for the Yellowness Index of Plastics

This test method is mainly intended to determine the degree of yellowness (or change in degree of yellowness) of homogeneous, non-fluorescent, almost colorless transparent materials under daylight illumination.

It can be applied to the transmittance of transparent and translucent plastics and the reflection of opaque plastics. It is based on tristimulus values ​​calculated from data obtained on a Hardy-GE type spectrophotometer, but other apparatus are satisfactory if equivalent results are obtained.

Values ​​stated in SI units should be accepted as standard.

This test method is not shown for determining the transmitted yellowness of plastics with a light transmittance below 25% and is not shown for determining the reflected yellowness of translucent plastics.
