This standard provides numbers associated with visual ratings of the yellowness or whiteness of white and near-white or colorless object color samples. White fabrics, paints and plastics are a few of the materials that can be identified by the yellowness or whiteness indexes calculated with this application.
For a complete analysis of object colors by a particular observer and under a particular illuminator, three parameters must be used. However, for near-white specimens it is often helpful to calculate single-digit scales of yellowness or whiteness. This application provides the proposed equations for such scales and discusses their derivatives and uses, and the limits of their applicability.
