Instructions are provided for modifying the methods to be used as the referee method. The methods can be used for wire ties made with wire 0,0007 to 0,003 inches (18 to 76 m) in diameter.
Currently, common usage assumes that the term "wire tie" includes the entire interconnection (both welds and the wire spacing in between).
These test methods may only be used when the loop height of the wire tie is large enough to allow a suitable hook for pulling to be placed under the wire.
The precision of these methods has been evaluated for aluminum ultrasonic wedge ties; however, these methods can be used for aluminum ball ties and gold wedge or ball ties because aluminum wedge ties are most susceptible to manufacturing variations (such as bond deformation) of any wire tie type.
These methods are destructive. They are suitable for use in process development or in process control or quality assurance with an appropriate sampling plan.
