EUROLAB, together with its state-of-the-art accredited laboratories and expert team, provides precise and fast testing services within the scope of ASTM D6743 testing. This standard covers the determination of the thermal stability of unused organic heat transfer fluids.
The procedure is applicable to liquids used for heat transfer at temperatures both above and below their boiling point (referring to the normal boiling point throughout the text unless otherwise noted). Applies to liquids with a maximum bulk operating temperature of 260 °C (500 °F) to 454 °C (850 °F).
The procedure should not be used to test a liquid above its critical temperature. In this test method, volatile degradation products are in constant contact with the liquid during the test. This test method will not measure the thermal stability threshold (the temperature at which essential oil fragments begin to form), but will instead show the bulk fragmentation that occurs for a given temperature and test period.
Do not use this test method for aqueous liquids or other liquids that generate high pressure gas at these temperatures, as potential decomposition and high pressure gas formation can occur at temperatures above 260 °C (500 °F).
The applicability of this test method to siloxane-based heat transfer fluids has not been determined.
