EUROLAB laboratory provides testing and compliance service within the scope of ASTM C1366 standard. This test method covers the determination of the tensile strength of monolithic advanced ceramics under uniaxial loading at elevated temperatures.
This test method considers, but is not limited to, the various recommended test specimen geometries listed in the appendix. In addition, test specimen manufacturing methods, test modes (force, displacement or strain control), test rates (force ratio, stress ratio, displacement ratio or strain ratio), allowable bending, and data collection and reporting procedures are covered.
Tensile strength as used in this test method refers to the tensile strength obtained under uniaxial loading.
This test method is primarily applicable to advanced ceramics that exhibit macroscopically isotropic, homogeneous, continuous behavior. While this test method applies primarily to monolithic advanced ceramics, certain bristle- or particle-reinforced composite ceramics, as well as certain discontinuous fiber-reinforced composite ceramics, can meet these macroscopic behavior assumptions.
In general, continuous fiber ceramic composites (CFCCs) do not exhibit macroscopically isotropic, homogeneous, continuous behavior and it is not recommended to apply this test method to these materials.
