ASTM D255 Test to Establish Clear Wood Strength Values

Because the density survey has been carried out extensively, the reassessed strength data is intended to represent the forest stand or rather large forest subdivisions.

Some useful mechanical properties (tensile strengths parallel and perpendicular to the grain, modulus of stiffness for the longitudinal-transverse plane, and transverse modulus of elasticity) have not been extensively evaluated. Methods for estimating these properties according to their relations with other properties are explained.
