EUROLAB laboratory provides testing and compliance services within the scope of ASTM D689 standard. This test method measures the force perpendicular to the paper plane required to tear multiple sheets of paper over a given distance after tearing has begun, using an Elmendorf-type tear tester.
The measured results can be used to calculate the approximate tear strength of a single sheet. If a single sheet of paper is torn, the tear resistance is directly measured.
This test method is not suitable for determining the cross-direction tear resistance of multi-directional boards and papers.
