ASTM D714 Standard Test Method for Evaluating the Swelling Degree of Paints

EUROLAB laboratory provides testing and compliance services within the scope of ASTM D714 standard. This test method uses photographic reference standards to assess the degree of swelling that can develop when paint systems are exposed to conditions that cause swelling.

Although primarily intended for use on metal and other non-porous surfaces, this test method can be used to evaluate bubbles on porous surfaces such as wood if the size of the bubbles falls within the scope of these reference standards. When reference standards are used as a performance specification, the allowable degree of swelling of the paint system will be decided by the buyer and seller.
