When a fuel is redesignated as D1655 aviation turbine fuel, it can be used in the same way as the equivalent refined D1655 aviation turbine fuel.
This specification defines minimum specification requirements for aviation turbine fuel containing synthesized hydrocarbons and lists additives acceptable for use in civilian engines and aircraft. Specification D7566 is intended for and is maintained for civilian applications, but may be acceptable for military, government or other private uses.
This specification can be used as a standard for defining the quality of aviation turbine fuel from production to aircraft. However, this specification does not define the quality assurance tests and procedures necessary to ensure that the fuel in the distribution system continues to comply with this specification after batch certification.
This specification does not include all fuels satisfactory for aviation turbine engines. Certain equipment or conditions of use may allow a wider range of features or require a narrower range of features than shown in this specification.
Synthetic blend components, synthetic fuels, and blends of synthetic fuels with conventional petroleum-derived fuels in this specification have been evaluated and approved according to the principles set forth in Application D4054.
