ASTM D7264 Test for Flexural Properties of Polymer Matrix Composite Materials

Procedure A– A three-point loading system using center loading on a simply supported beam.

Procedure B – A four-point loading system using two load points evenly spaced from adjacent support points, with the distance between the load points half the support span.

Unlike Test Method D6272, which allows loading at both one-third and half of the support span to standardize the geometry and simplify calculations, this standard allows loading at only half the support span.

For comparison purposes, tests can be performed according to both test procedures, provided that the same procedure is used for all tests, as the two procedures often give slightly different property values.

Values ​​stated in SI units or inch-pound units should be considered separately as standard. The values ​​specified in each system are not necessarily exact equivalents; therefore, to ensure compliance with the standard, each system should be used independently of the other and the values ​​obtained from the two systems should not be combined.
