ASTM D97 Standard Test Method for Pour Point of Petroleum Products

A suitable procedure is described for black samples, cylinder stock and non-distilled fuel oil. The cloud point procedure, which was previously part of this test method, now appears as test method D2500.

Various ASTM test methods are available that offer alternative procedures for determining pour points using automated apparatus. Neither share the same identification number as test method D97.

When using an automated instrument, the technique-specific ASTM test method identification number will be reported with the results. A procedure for testing the pour point of crude oils is described in Test Method D5853.
