EUROLAB laboratory provides testing and compliance services within the scope of ASTM F2029 standard. These applications include the preparation of thermal insulation materials in the laboratory.
These applications also include the processing and evaluation of heat seal strength data to determine the heat sealability of flexible barrier materials. It does not cover the verification procedures required for production equipment.
Testing of sealing or other properties of thermal insulation materials created with these applications is not included in this standard.
Applications of this standard are limited to preparing heat seals using a sealer using hot stick or impact sealing methods, or both.
This application aims to assist in establishing initial relationships for sealing flexible barrier materials. Additional guidance may be needed on how to set sealing conditions for flexible barrier materials on commercial/manufacturing sealing equipment.
Gaskets can be made between webs of the same or different materials. The individual webs may be homogeneous in structure or multi-layered (coextruded, coated, laminated, etc.).
The strength of the heat seal, measured by Test Method F88, is the sole criterion for evaluating the heat seal used in these applications.
Other aspects of heat sealability, such as seal continuity, typically measured by air leakage, paint penetration, visual inspection, microorganism penetration, or other techniques, are not covered by these applications.
