This method can be applied to rigid and semi-rigid plastics. To determine these properties, uniaxial loading systems with tensile and compression capabilities are used. The stress and strain levels are below the proportional limits of the material where the strains and stresses are relatively elastic.

This test method can be used with two procedures:

  • Procedure A, stress fatigue test.
  • Procedure B, compression fatigue test, for rigid plastics only.

Comparative tests may be performed according to either procedure, provided that the procedure is found to be satisfactory for the material being tested.
