ASTM-D822 Standard Practice for Filtered Open Flame Carbon Arc Exposure of Paint and Related Coatings

This application does not cover indoor carbon arc exposures of paints and related coatings described in application D5031/D5031M.

Another procedure to expose these products is under Application D3361/D3361M where samples are exposed to radiation from an unfiltered open flame or an unfiltered open flame carbon arc that produces shorter wavelengths and higher levels of short wavelength radiation than an unfiltered open flame or closed carbon arc.

The values ​​specified in each system may not be exactly equivalent; therefore, each system should be used independently of the other. Combining values ​​from the two systems may result in non-compliance with the standard.
