ASTM C351 Test for Average Specific Heat of Thermal Insulation

This test method uses the classical mixing method. Although this test method was developed for testing thermal insulations, it can be easily adapted to measure the specific heats of other materials.

The test procedure provides an average temperature of about 60°C (temperature range of 100 to 20°C) using water as the calorimetric fluid. The temperature range can be changed as desired by changing other calorimetric fluids.
