EUROLAB laboratory provides testing and compliance services within the scope of ASTM C62 standard. This standard covers bricks intended for both structural and non-structural masonry where appearance is not a requirement.
Bricks are prismatic units that come in a variety of sizes, shapes, textures and colors. The specification does not cover bricks intended for use as cladding units or where surface appearance is a requirement.
If the brick is required to have limitations on a particular colour, texture, finish, uniformity, or other imperfections that detract from its appearance, these are purchased under Specification C216. This specification does not cover brick intended for use as paving brick.
The ownership requirements of this standard apply at the time of purchase. The use of results from testing bricks extracted from masonry structures to determine whether they meet the property requirements of this standard is beyond the scope of this standard.
It is produced from brick, clay, shale or similar naturally occurring earthy materials and is subjected to heat treatment (firing) at high temperatures. Heat treatment must develop sufficient ignited bonds between the particle components to meet the strength and durability requirements of this specification.
Brick is shaped by molding, pressing or extrusion during manufacture, and the shaping method is one way of describing the brick.
The text of this standard refers to notes and footnotes that provide explanatory material. These notes and footnotes (except in tables and figures) will not be accepted as requirements of the standard.
