ASTM D7066 Standard Test for Dimer-Trimer of Chlorotrifluoroethylene Recoverable Oil, Grease, and Non-Polar Material by Infrared Detection

This test method involves the determination of oil, grease and non-polar materials in water and wastewater by infrared (IR) determination of the dimer/trimer of chlorotrifluoroethylene 2 extractables from an acidified sample. This oil and grease estimate includes other solvent-soluble compounds.

This test method is applicable to the measurement of light fuel, although some loss of light ends may be expected during extraction.

This test method defines oil and grease in water and wastewater as extractable in the test method and measured by IR absorption at 2930 cm -1 or 3.4 microns. Similarly, this test method identifies non-polar material in water and wastewater as oil and grease that are not adsorbed by silica gel in the test method and measured by IR absorption at 2930 cm -1 .

This test method covers the range of 5 to 100 mg/L and can be expanded to a lower or higher level by subtracting a larger or smaller sample volume collected separately.
