ASTM E2074 Fire Tests of Door Groups Including Positive Pressure Testing of Side Hinged and Swivel Swinging Door Groups

This fire test response standard specifies the ability of door assemblies to function as a fire resistant barrier during a standard fire resistance test. Such a test method should not be interpreted as determining the suitability of door assemblies for continued use after exposure to fire.

This fire test response standard is intended to assess the ability of a door assembly to remain in an opening during a predetermined test exposure, followed by a subsequent application of a hose current as needed (see ).

The hose flow test used in this test method is not designed to represent an actual hose flow used by a fire brigade during firefighting operations.

Fire exposure is not representative of all fire conditions that vary with the amount, nature and distribution of fire load, ventilation, compartment size and configuration, and changes in compartment thermal properties. However, it provides a relative measure of the fire resistance of door assemblies under specified fire exposure conditions.

The information contained in it can be important in determining the fire hazard or fire risk of door assemblies under real fire conditions. This information can be determined by other suitable fire testing methods. For example, flame spread and smoke development can be determined by Test Method E 84.
