EUROLAB laboratory provides testing and compliance services within the scope of ASTM E2799-12 standard. This test method specifies the operational parameters required to grow and treat a pseudomonas aeruginosa biofilm in a high-throughput screening test known as MBEC (trademarked) (minimum biofilm eradication concentration) physiology and genetic testing.
The tester consists of a ninety-six pin plastic cap and a corresponding receiver plate with ninety-six (200) individual wells with a maximum working volume of 96 μL.
The biofilm is established on the pegs with gentle mixing under intermittent conditions (ie, with no nutrient flow into or out of a single well). The formed biofilm is transferred to a new recipient plate for disinfectant efficacy testing.
The reactor design allows simultaneous testing of multiple disinfectants, or a disinfectant of multiple concentrations, and duplication of samples, making the test an efficient screening tool.
This test method describes how to sample biofilm and measure living cells. Biofilm population density is recorded as log 10 colony forming units per surface area. Efficacy is reported as a log 10 reduction of viable cells.
