The intent of this specification is to provide minimum requirements for respiratory protective escape devices that provide limited protection for 15 minutes to escape the by-products of fire, including particulate matter, carbon monoxide, other toxic gases and other toxic gases.
The requirements of this standard are designed to provide head, eye and respiratory protection from particulate matter, irritants and toxic gases and vapors commonly produced by fire, a laboratory-tested air-purifying respirator with a service life of 15 minutes.
