EUROLAB laboratory provides testing and compliance services within the scope of ASTM E308 standard. This application provides the values and practical calculation procedures required to derive CIE tristimulus values for object color from spectral reflectance, transmittance, or luminance data.
The procedures for the CIE 1931 standard observer and for calculating the CIE tristimulus values X, Y, Z and chromaticity coordinates x, y from spectral measurements for X10, Y10, Z10 and x10 are given.
Procedures are included for cases where data is only available at more limited wavelength ranges than recommended or for a wider measurement range than recommended by CIE. This application applies to spectral data obtained with a 1164-, 1-, 5- or 10-nm measuring range in accordance with Application E20.
Procedures are included for when spectral data is corrected and uncorrected for bandpass dependency. For uncorrected cases, it is assumed that the spectral bandpass of the device used to acquire the data is approximately equal to the measuring range and is triangular. These selections are believed to correspond to the most widely used industrial application.
Values stated in SI units should be accepted as standard. No other units of measurement are included in this standard.
