Test for Determination of Fire Resistance of Perimeter Fire Barriers Using ASTM E2307 Medium-Sized, Multi-Level Test Apparatus

EUROLAB, together with its state-of-the-art accredited laboratories and expert team, provides precise and rapid testing services within the scope of ASTM E2307 testing. This standard demonstrates the performance of the environmental fire barrier and resisting fire exposure from an interior partition fire, during fire testing of the exterior wall assembly and floor assembly. It measures its ability to provide a seal to prevent the spread of fire during bending and deformation.

The endpoint of the fire resistance test is the time elapsed before the initial compliance condition is reached as the surrounding fire barrier is subjected to a time-temperature fire exposure.

The fire exposure conditions used are those specified by this test method for the first 30 minutes of exposure and then conform to the Test Methods E119 time-temperature curve for the remainder of the test in the test chamber.

This test method specifies heating conditions, test methods, and criteria for evaluating the ability of a perimeter fire barrier to maintain fire resistance where a floor and exterior wall assembly is juxtaposed to a perimeter joint.

Test results determine the performance of environmental fire barriers during the fire exposure period and should not be interpreted as determining the suitability of environmental fire barriers for use after this exposure.

This test method does not provide quantitative information on the environmental fire barrier relative to the leak rate of smoke or gases or both. While describing the overall behavior of the perimeter fire barrier during fire resistance testing requires that such events be noted and reported, such events are not part of the eligibility requirements.

Potentially important factors and fire characteristics not covered in this test method include, but are not limited to:

The performance of the environmental fire barrier made with components other than those tested, and
Cyclic action capabilities of perimeter fire barriers outside the tested loop conditions.

This test method is used to measure and describe the reaction of materials, products, or assemblies to heat and flame under controlled conditions, but only to materials, products, or assemblies under actual fire conditions.

Values stated in inch-pound units should be considered standard. Values in parentheses are mathematical conversions to non-standard SI units, provided for informational purposes only.

The text of this test method refers to notes and footnotes that provide explanatory material. These notes and footnotes (except in tables and figures) will not be accepted as requirements of the standard.
