ASTM E935 Standard Test Methods for Performance of Permanent Metal Railing Systems and Rails in Buildings

Specifically, these test methods cover procedures for determining the static strength of metal railing systems, rails and components as structural members when installed and secured to concrete, masonry, wood and metal as well as related products.

Possible deteriorations in metal railing systems, rails and connections caused by adverse environmental conditions are not taken into account in these test methods. Performance of special tests covering this aspect may be desirable.

These test methods are limited to applying the loads described here. If the calculations make it possible to provide the necessary information, tests can be used for verification.
