ASTM F2028-14 Standard Test Method for Dynamic Evaluation of Glenoid Relaxation or Separation

This standard measures how much a prosthetic anatomical glenoid component sways or rotates following cyclic displacement of the humeral head to opposing glenoid edges (for example, upper-lower or anteroposterior).

Motion is measured by tensile displacement across each loaded edge after dynamic swing. Similarly, this standard measures how much a prosthetic reverse glenoid component wobbles or rotates following cyclic articulation with a mating humeral lining. Movement is measured by the magnitude of the displacement measured before and after cyclic loading.

The same setup can be used to test the locking mechanisms of modular glenoid components, such as separation of both anatomical and reverse shoulder components.

This standard covers shoulder replacement designs with monolithic or modular glenoid components for cementitious fixation as well as reverse glenoid components for cementless fixation.
