Test specimens are prepared by gluing tiles to a mortar bed using Portland cement paste. This assembly is allowed to moist cure for 16 to 24 hours, followed by an additional 6 days of curing. After curing is complete, a technician guides the test rig to a tensile testing machine and the sample is loaded with scissors until the tile and mortar bond is broken.
