This test method covers the evaluation of the energy consumption, brewing and holding performances of commercial coffee brewers (hereinafter referred to as coffee brewers) used in commercial and institutional facilities.

The operator can use this assessment to select a coffee machine and characterize its energy use and performance. This test method does not cover domestic coffee brewers, urn coffee brewers, or espresso machines.

This test method applies to single-cup and batch coffee brewers. The coffee brewer will be tested for (if applicable):

  • Maximum energy input rate;
  • Heavy use brewing energy consumption;
  • Production capacity;
  • "Ready to Brew" (Standby/Idle) energy rate;
  • “Energy Saving Mode” (Low power) energy rate.
