Additional requirements are provided for use when additional testing, inspection, or processing is required. In addition, additional requirements may be specified from the A788/A788M Specification where appropriate. This standard includes austenitic steel forgings that are part of the A336/A336M Specification.
The materials will be produced by melting, forging and rough machining and will be equipped with heat treatment in the solution-wrought state (solution annealing and quenching in water, oil or polymer water solution). Stainless steel samples shall be subjected to heat and product analyzes to evaluate the conformity of individual grades to specified basic chemical compositions. Forgings will also be examined for compliance of each grade with the required grain sizes and mechanical properties.
Values specified in SI units or inch-pound units will be considered individually standard. The values specified in each system are not necessarily exact equivalents; Therefore, to ensure compliance with the standard, each system will be used independently of the other and the values of the two systems will not be combined.
