ASTM G125 Standard Test for Measuring Liquid and Solid Fire Limits in Gas Oxidizers

This test method has been found to be applicable for testing and grading various material forms. It has also found limited usefulness for predicting the probability that materials will be "oxygen compatible" in real systems. However, its results may not apply to any condition that does not faithfully reproduce conditions during testing.

This test method allows the measurement of the minimum conditions of a set of parameters (oxidant concentration in a flowing mixture of oxidant and diluent, pressure, temperature) that will only support sustained combustion propagation. For materials that exhibit flaming combustion, this is a flammability limit similar to the lower flammability limit, the upper flammability limit, and the minimum oxidizer for combustion of gases.
