ASTM G155 Test Standard for Operating Xenon Arc Light Apparatus for Exposure of Non-Metallic Materials

EUROLAB laboratory provides testing and compliance services within the scope of ASTM G155 standard. The ASTM G155 standard covers the basic principles and operating procedures for the use of xenon arc light and water devices to reproduce the weathering effects that occur when materials are exposed to sunlight (directly or through window glass) and moisture as rain or dew in actual use.

This practice is limited to procedures for obtaining, measuring and controlling exposure conditions. A number of exposure procedures are listed in an appendix; however, this application does not specify the optimal exposure conditions for the material to be tested.

Application G151 describes performance criteria for all exposure devices using laboratory light sources. This application replaces Application G26, which describes very specific designs for devices used for xenon arc exposures. The apparatus described in application G26 is covered in this application.

Test samples are exposed to filtered xenon arc light under controlled environmental conditions. Different xenon arc light sources and different filter combinations are described.

ASTM G155 is used to perform accelerated aging in a wide variety of products and industries, including the automotive industry, surface coatings, pharmaceutical light stability tests, printing inks, roofing, rubber, adhesives, textiles, geotextiles, and others.

When testing your products using this application, samples are exposed to repetitive cycles of light and humidity under controlled environmental conditions. Moisture is usually produced by spraying the test sample with demineralized water or by condensing water vapor onto the sample.

Xenon Arc Test

Xenon arc testing involves the use of a UV chamber to simulate high frequency radiation corroding materials as well as other phenomena common in an outdoor service environment such as temperature and humidity. ASTM G155 allows us to apply UV waves through a glass panel specifically to observe the effects of this radiation on automotive interiors and other materials that may be exposed to solar radiation when used indoors.

Values stated in SI units will be accepted as standard.

This standard does not purport to address all, if any, safety concerns associated with its use. It is the responsibility of the user of this standard to establish appropriate safety and health practices and to determine the applicability of regulatory restrictions prior to use.

Our organization, EUROLAB, provides standard application services for the operation of Xenon Arc light apparatus for the exposure of non-metallic materials, within the framework of national and international standards, with its trained and expert staff and advanced technological equipment, among numerous test, measurement, analysis and evaluation studies. Provides testing services within the scope of ASTM G155 standard.
