V662 Ballistic Test for MIL STD 50F Armor

Ballistic MIL-SPEC Tests

V662 Ballistic Test for MIL STD 50F Armor

EUROLAB laboratory provides testing and compliance services within the scope of MIL STD 662F standard. The MIL STD 662F standard is to provide general guidelines for procedures, equipment, physical conditions, and terminology for determining the ballistic resistance of metallic, non-metallic, and composite armor against small arms projectiles. The ballistic test procedure described in this standard determines the V50 ballistic limit.

V662 Ballistic Test for MIL STD 50F Armor

This test method standard is used in ballistic acceptance tests of armor and in new armor.
It is designed for use in the research and development of materials. This is ballistic
The test method applies to the following armor types:

  • Shield, body armor;
  • Armored seats for aircraft and ground vehicles;
  • Crew station armor for military aircraft;
  • Internal and external armor for aircraft;
  • Transparent armor such as windows, windshields and vision blocks for aircraft and ground vehicles;
  • Bulkhead armor for use on board;
  • Structural or integral armor for use on ship exteriors;
  • Armor for military tactical shelters (AFWAL-TR-82-4163);
  • visors for eye and face protection;
  • Armor for potential space applications;
  • Armor for light and heavy combat vehicles and structures.

When specified by the procurement activity, ballistic acceptance of armor may be based on pass/fail or accept/reject criteria other than the V50 BLP ballistic limit method contained herein. Military operations or DoD contractors may use in-house ballistic testing facilities and equipment not covered by this standard.

This standard does not take precedence over armor specification ballistic test procedures or
does not replace them. Unique requirements for ballistic testing of certain end materials not covered in this standard should be specified in the contract.

Unless otherwise stated, all ballistic tests will be performed in a standard atmosphere of 23 + 2oC (73 + 4o F) and 50% + 5% relative humidity. Temperature and humidity measurements will be recorded for each ignition.

EUROLAB also provides MIL STD 662F testing services within the scope of other military testing services. Thanks to these services, businesses receive more effective, high-performance and quality testing services and provide safe, fast and uninterrupted service to their customers.
