EN 60068-2-6 Environmental Tests - Part 2-6: Tests - Test Fc: Vibration (Sinusoidal)

EUROLAB laboratory provides testing and compliance services within the scope of EN 60068-2-6 standard. This part of the EN 60068 standard gives a test method that provides a standard procedure for determining the ability of components, equipment and other objects, hereinafter referred to as samples, to withstand sinusoidal vibration of specified severity.

EN 60068-2-6 Environmental Tests - Part 2-6: Tests - Test Fc: Vibration (Sinusoidal)

If a product is to be tested unpackaged, that is, unpackaged, it is called a test sample. However, if the product is packaged, the product itself is referred to as the product, the product and its packaging together as a test sample.

The purpose of this test is to identify any mechanical weakness or deterioration in the specified performance of the samples and to use this information together with the relevant specification to decide the acceptability of the samples.

In some cases, the test method can also be used to demonstrate the mechanical strength of samples or to examine their dynamic behavior. Classification of components can also be made on the basis of a selection from the significance levels specified in the test.

This part of EN 60068 gives a valid test method for components, equipment and other objects that, during transport or service, may be subjected to conditions that include vibration of a harmonic pattern produced primarily by rotating, vibrating or oscillating forces. Occurs in ships, aircraft, land vehicles, rotorcraft and space applications or is caused by machinery and seismic events.

This standard basically consists of exposing a sample to sinusoidal vibration at a specified frequency range or at discrete frequencies for a specified period of time. A vibration response survey may be specified that aims to determine the critical frequencies of the sample. The relevant standard should specify whether the specimen will work during vibration or whether it still works adequately after being subjected to vibration.

It is emphasized that vibration testing always requires a certain engineering consideration and that both the supplier and the buyer should be fully aware of this fact. However, the sinusoidal test is deterministic and therefore relatively simple to perform. Thus, it can be easily applied for both diagnostic and service life testing.

The main part of this standard deals primarily with methods of controlling testing at specific points using analog or digital techniques and gives the test procedure in detail. The choice of intensities, including the requirements for vibratory motion, frequency ranges, amplitudes and endurance times are also specified, these intensities represent a rationalized set of parameters. The relevant specification author is expected to select the test procedure and values appropriate for the sample and its use.
