EUROLAB laboratory provides testing and compliance services within the scope of EN 12457-3 standard. This part of the European standard specifies a conformity test that provides information on the washing of granular wastes and sludges under the test conditions specified below, and in particular the liquid/solid ratio of 2 l/kg dry matter followed by 8 l/kg dry matter.
Applies to wastes with a particle size of less than 4 mm or that have not been reduced in size. The test procedure specified in this standard produces an eluate that will then be characterized physically and chemically according to appropriate standard methods.
This procedure applies only to waste material and sludge with high solids content: the dry matter content must be at least higher than 33%.
In addition, the required amount of eluate must be obtained at each step to perform the physical and chemical characterization of the eluate. Also, the minimum dry matter content ratio should be high enough to ensure adequate mixing of the leachate liquid and the test portion.

Results for given wastes may be different for different procedures. This European standard has six appendices that provide useful information on the selection of the appropriate procedure, reference documents and guidance on the limitations of these procedures.
