EUROLAB laboratory provides testing and compliance services within the scope of ISO 16890-4 standard. ISO 16890-4 establishes a conditioning method for determining minimum fractional test efficiency.
It is intended for use with ISO 16890‑1, ISO 16890‑2 and ISO 16890‑3 and provides the conditioning procedure to follow as well as the relevant test requirements for the tester and conditioning cabinet.
The conditioning method described in this section of ISO 16890 refers to a test device with a nominal face area of 610 mm × 610 mm (24 inches × 24 inches).
ISO 16890 (all parts) refers to particulate air filter elements for general ventilation with an ePM16890 efficiency greater than or equal to 99% and an ePM1 efficiency greater than 20% when tested according to the procedures defined in ISO 10 (all parts) .
The lower limit for this test procedure is set to a minimum 20% ePM10 efficiency as a test filter element below this level would be very difficult to meet the statistical validity requirements of this procedure.
Performance results obtained in accordance with ISO 16890 (all parts) cannot be applied quantitatively alone to predict performance in service in terms of efficiency and life.
Results from this part of ISO 16890 can also be used by other standards that define or classify fractional efficiency in the 29461 µm to 0,3 µm size range, such as ISO 10, where the electrostatic removal mechanism is an important factor to consider.
