EN 60068-2-70 Environmental Tests, Part 2: Test Xb: Abrasion of Marks and Inscriptions from Friction of Fingers and Hands

This standard defines a test method applicable to markings and inscriptions on such parts of electrical products (switches, plugs, handles, etc.) subjected to frictional forces caused by fingers or other parts of the hand. This standard can also be applied to other industrial products.

This test should be required by the relevant specification where the stress during normal use is very high or where legibility is important for safety or other reasons.

The tested surface will be repeatedly subjected to the frictional action of a test plunger. To adapt to the tested surface, the tip of the test plunger deforms due to its flexibility. The components, stiffness and shape of the piston, as well as its motion and angle, are chosen to simulate the pressure and friction exerted by a human finger or the fleshy part of the piston.
