Realistically, the only way to know if a particular product can withstand corrosive environments is to test it in corrosive environments. Unfortunately, testing equipment in intended environments will take years at the rates at which corrosion normally occurs. Therefore, it must be tested under conditions that produce high speed corrosion rates. Our corrosion test laboratories are equipped to provide corrosion testing and corrosion monitoring under accelerated conditions to simulate years of accumulated corrosion.

Some standards require corrosion measurement to determine whether the equipment is suitable for more corrosive environments than those that require a typical salt fog corrosion test. Applications requiring this type of testing are generally specified when materials or products are stored in areas with acidic atmospheres, such as industrial areas, or when stored or operated in the presence of exhaust produced by any fuel combustion device. If necessary, our corrosion testing laboratories use gases such as sulfur dioxide to simulate the exhaust.
