DIN 18035-4 Sports Fields Part 4: Sports Turf Fields Test

DIN 18035-4 standard is valid for outdoor sports fields covered with grass. Does not apply to golf and equestrian sports facilities or lawn tennis courts. Whether or not the requirements of this standard are applicable under special circumstances, for example areas with special use, areas with underfloor heating, reinforcement systems, areas covered completely or partially, permanently or temporarily, will be decided on a case-by-case basis.

The requirements of this standard are valid for the conformity and control tests and the acceptance time of the turf. Open-pored building materials increase water storage capacity. The drainage layer should not contain or be capable of developing plant-damaging components and should not damage groundwater.

Grasses change due to atmospheric and biological influences as well as use. Therefore, the following requirements apply for the time of control tests or acceptance of turf.

• The internal water content should not impair functionality;
• There should be no functionally disruptive grain crushing;
• The smoothness of the underlying layers or subfloor must not be impaired;
• The functionality of the layer and the underlying layers or substrate must not be compromised.

Intended substances must meet the requirements of the Federal Soil Conservation and Contaminated Sites Regulation or the Biowaste Regulation and Fertilizer Regulation.
