They range from difluorodichloromethane (R-12) to trichlorobenzene, including all non-polar organic compounds of intermediate volatility.
Detection is preferably accomplished by mass spectrometry in electron impact mode (EI), but other detectors may also be applied.
The detection limit is highly dependent on the detector in use and operational parameters. Detection limits as low as 10 ng/l can be achieved, typically. The operating range is typically up to 100 micrograms per liter. EN ISO 15680 is applicable to drinking water, groundwater, surface water, seawater and (diluted) wastewater.
